Discover the amazing red beach of Panjin in western China

A little known seaweed

Located not far from the North Korean border, this beach attracts many curious people for its originality and beauty. When we talk about the subject of beaches, we directly imagine sand. So, if you are talking about red beach, you are certainly imagining red sand.

However, it is not grains of sand that we find at Panjin Beach. Indeed, it consists exclusively of an algae called Sueda . Green at first, it develops between the months of April and May. It is at the beginning of autumn that its color turns burgundy , sometimes even bright red . In fact, this beach is in a very humid and marshy location . Panjin Natural Park is indeed on the edge of the Liaohe River Delta and consists of streams, reeds and swamps. But the highlight of the show is undeniably this surprising beach during the fall season.

A protected ecosystem

Even if the waters already do not really make you want to dive there, it is good to know that it is forbidden to swim there anyway. Indeed, the State makes it a point of honor to protect this unique place in the world. It is for this reason that numerous measures have been taken since the end of the 1980s . Fitted wooden stilts allow you to contemplate the beach without damaging it. It gives the impression of walking above a red sea!

Visiting Panjin Natural Park is not just about seeing this extraordinary panorama, it is also about discovering more than 400 species of wild animals and 260 types of birds , some of which are rare. We nicknamed “the house of the cranes”. Indeed, it is one of the last natural habitats of Crown Cranes which are unfortunately endangered. So don’t be surprised to come across many photographers or wildlife enthusiasts on this incredible nature site.

Even if it is almost impossible to discover everything in the land of the rising sun, we advise you to add Panjin beach to your to-do list  since it is a landscape that you will not be able to see anywhere else. in the world.
